Newsletter 01
The first woodmark newsletter - Think Make Act
Welcome from the CEO It is with such pride that we are able to bring to you the collective talent of our extraordinary stock of Australian furniture designers.
Being of Danish origin, I am continually impressed at how Australia has evolved in the area of furniture design. We live in a unique country and our designs are usually abreast of current European trends and that’s refreshing. Woodmark is also unique in the way we undertake the manufacture of designed pieces. When we contract a freelance designer, we work with them to develop and prototype their work. This is time-consuming and costly but essential in producing a marketable product.
We pride ourselves on our expertise in resolving complicated detail. We have staff who have been with us since day one. Their loyalty and contribution over the years have only strengthened Woodmark’s current position.
Woodmark started by manufacturing Danish furniture under license, making accessible beautifully designed pieces to the Australian design community. We still manufacture under license, but more and more our focus is on Australian design.
2005 is going to be an exciting year for us, with new product currently being developed by designers Charles Wilson, Matthew Sheargold and Gary Galego. We are also very excited to be working with our newly appointed NSW and Victorian network partner, Living Edge.
I hope you enjoy our first issue of Think-Make-Act
