CW1 SWIVEL CHAIRDesigned in 1995
2005 marked 10 years of continuous production of the CW1 Swivel Chair.
CW1 has a structure using symmetrical ribbons of bent plywood to create a sinuous and highly comfortable form. While this design has a highly sculptural form, Wilson applied the sort of ergonomics usually found in function-driven designs like office chairs; The shells are angled inwards to provide an embracing form, and curve in around the lower back to support the lumber region. As well, the halves move independently, allowing for greater freedom of movement.
In 1998 it was purchased by the Museum of Applied Arts & Science (The Powerhouse Museum) and is part of the permanent collection.
